About a Boy

A room full of other mothers and other children, one mother wanders over, our boys would like to say hello. Oh. So sweet.

My son, my beautiful boy with a smile that lights the sun, stands tall, already barrel chested, his legs firm, spread in a dominant posture, he sweeps his arms open and in a breath lunges at this other child, nearly taking his head clear off, then begins shaking the child as if it were his prey that needs to be subdued, smothered into submission.

I am horrified.

I apologize profusely.

Two grown adult women attempt to pry my son's arms apart to free the other child; my son responds by girding against us, he pouts his lips, frowns in concentration and begins kneading the other child's eyes, squealing in delight, a primitive announcement of victory.

The other boy barely blinks and waits the blows out and the boys mother says, nonchalantly, "Oh, he has an older brother. He's used to it".

I am deeply embarrassed and uncertain where to go from here, do I continue apologizing? Do I offer to pay the medical bills to restore the other child's sight? Maybe, I should scrape the flesh and blood from under my boys fingernails and hand them over, mumbling something about gangrene? Maybe a fruit basket from the Martha Stewart Collection?

Then from the dark precipice of motherhood, unbelievably, a chubby paw extends and the other child reaches out and draws my bear of a boy in for a hug.

In a moment, I'm grateful for big brothers who clobber their siblings and my beautiful boy who humors me and my soft kisses and loving nuzzles, at other times out right laughing at me when I disentangle my curls from his clenched fists.

He's the son every father draws for himself, a big strapping lad with testosterone strewn about and manhood proven in brute strength; I ordered a more refined dish but, I am thrilled with what showed up.

Obama Funds Slaughter of the Unborn

I was repulsed to discover today that President Obama is going to funnel American tax money to fund institutions that offer abortion. This move violates an unspoken, tacit global agreement that governments would refrain from funding abortionists using public funds.

The Right kills millions of innocent outside the womb with their gleeful warmongering, racism and hate using their perverted and manufactured version of Jesus while the left slaughters the most sacred and innocent, the unborn in a misguided and militant demand that the woman is most important in all circumstances.

Right wing false christians and the left wing secular atheists are mirror reflections of one another, both loathe life while preaching the sanctity and value of the individual or the soul, demanding that one is more sacred than the other, be it the woman or the unborn child.

I have no doubt that the President will be lauded for supporting womens rights but, all he's done is reaffirm that we in this world despise the innocent and support the murder of the most vulnerable in our communities.

If we were a society that trully values women and girls, Obama would have committed funds to the following:

1. Creating a safe national daycare system that is regulated by a federal body that would ensure educated and qualified staff are making a career of caring for children. This would relieve the financial burden on families and it would keep children safe from the pitfalls of unqualified and underpaid staff who neglect, abuse and harm children in their care.

2. A national housing system to give women experiencing unplanned pregnancies a safe place to have their children and decide whether or not to raise this precious boy or girl or give him/her up for adoption.

3. Honest and factual sex-education in schools telling young people the truth about sexual intercourse: sex is not free, sex has profound and life altering consequences including pregnancy, disease and death.

Fact: thousands of women get pregnant every year while on some form on birth control. Fact: Condoms don't protect against many STD's.

4. Abortion would be offered in a medical environment for extremely limited reasons like the health of the mother is threatened, the pregnancy is not viable and rape.

Abortion is not birth control.

An American Conversation on Day of Inauguration

American 1: They're calling him the Messiah.

American 2: Who is?

American 1:The Right Wingers.

American 2:The Right believes He's the Messiah?

American 1: No, they're just saying he is, as a form of mockery.

American 2: They're mocking the Messiah? Isn't that what happened before they crucified Him 2000 years ago?

American 1: Yup.

American 2: So, they're crucifying the Messiah, again?

American 1: No. He's not the Messiah but, the Right keeps saying he is.

American 2: I thought they said he was a Muslim?

American 1: They did.

American 2: If he's a Muslim, how can he be the Messiah?

American 1: He can't.

American 2: I'm confused.

American 1: Yeah
