Back

Back to the first day
So that I may
Re-do it
Right this time

Be your’ warrior
Until the end of time

So that you may never feel the sting
Of others judgments and harsh words
Their petty stabs and banal breaths

Back to the very beginning
When I could’ve started right
Done it perfect

Saved you from the dark grey shadows
Of others hearts
To create in you
A warrior for yourself

So that you may ferociously fight in your own name
As I promise
Back to your first breath
I keen in regret that I was and continue
To be so imperfect in the face of your gift

What do my tears mean when my stumbles persist
This fire has consumed me whole
Tormented by the unworthiness of my sin and broken pieces
That I have reassembled with an unknowing hand and an earnest heart
Blind faith to follow in the darkest of days
And hope that one day
I will be enough

Know this, Warrior Child
Every tear and misstep is my inadequate building
Of love towers and cities of joy so that you may
Roam for all eternity and time
Knowing without doubt that heaven and earth will
Be moved for you

If I could go back
I would be perfect
For you.
